This research examined the flotation of lead and zinc oxide-sulfide complex ore, in order to produce desired concentrate. The grades of lead and zinc of prepared sample were 0.51% Pb Total, 0.45% Pb Oxide, 1.04% Zn Total, and 0.93% Zn Oxide. The main minerals of this ore were cerussite, smithsonite, and hemimorphite, and 90% of the lead and zinc in the ore were oxide type minerals. Moreover, 85% of cerussite particles were liberated in sizes finer than 75 microns. The main target of this study was to achieve the optimum conditions for lead and zinc flotation and optimizing relevant parameters. For this purpose, chemical reagents including depressant, activator, collector, collector aid, and frother were tested, using chemicals at various dosages. By running different experiments the optimized flotation parameters were 2000 g/t of sodium sulfide as activator and sulfidizing agent for the surfaces of oxide minerals, zinc sulfate depressant with 1000 g/t, copper sulfate activator 500 g/t, potassium amyl xanthate collector 150 g/t, Aero407 collector aid 150 g/t, and A65 frother 50 g/t, which resulted in producing of concentrate with the highest possible recovery and grade. The rougher, cleaner, and re-cleaner flotation experiments were implemented under optimal conditions to obtain the final lead concentrate with a grade of 41.79% Pb and 42.20% recovery, and final zinc concentrate with grade of 4.68% Zn and 0.55% recovery. The low zinc grade and recovery was due to the high abundance of smithsonite and hemimorphite minerals particles with clay and silicate type gangues.

In this study, the andalusite ore sample from the Bazman deposit was utilized for concentration. The sample contained 25% alumina and 20% andalusite. The processing methods were implemented using two size fractions: +500 microns and -500 microns. The +500 micron sample was employed in scrubbing tests, conducted across three different size fractions: -3000+1700, -1700+500, and -500+300 microns. Various parameters such as scrubber rotation speed, solid concentration, and scrubbing duration were examined. The results indicated that the sample in the -500+300 micron fraction led to the best outcomes. The Qualitek-4 software was utilized for result analysis, revealing that the optimum conditions were 1500 rpm, a solid concentration of 70 w/w, and a scrubbing time of 25 minutes. For the +500 micron sample, processing following scrubbing involved magnetic separation and heavy liquid separation tests. Dry magnetic separation was specifically applied to reduce Fe2O3 content, with results showing that multiple stages of magnetic separation are necessary for effective treatment of this size fraction. The -500 micron sample underwent testing via shaking table, heavy liquid separation, magnetic separation, and flotation. Among these methods, heavy liquid separation and magnetic separation produced comparatively better outcomes.

In this research work, the bio-leaching of Co and Ni from an iron-rich laterite ore is assessed using the acidophilic heterotrophic (Delftia acidovorans)and autotrophic (Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans) bacteria. The metabolic products of the acidophilic bacteria play an important role in bio-leaching. The results obtained from the indirect bio-leaching indicate the highest nickel recoveries of up to 83.65% and 80.18%, respectively, by the supernatants of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Delftia acidovorans, both measured at 90 °C for 3 h with a stirring speed of 370 rpm and S/L of 0.1, while the corresponding cobalt recovery rates have reached 86.93% and 83.94%, respectively. The iron dissolution rates in these conditions for the two studied bacteria are 64.34% and 54.41%, respectively. The nickel and cobalt extractions by the indirect bio-leaching of Delftia acidovorans are, respectively, 29.84% and 23.75% higher than those for the direct bio-leaching, performed at 30 °C and 150 rpm of an incubator shaker for 30 days. For the indirect bio-leaching, the chemical control has a larger influence on the dissolution rate of the iron-rich laterite compared to the diffusion control. The activation energies of nickel and cobalt in the chemical control model are 40.07 and 39.08 kJ/mol, respectively.

In this research work, the parameters affecting the settling velocity within the thickeners were studied by introducing an equivalent shape factor. Several thickener feed samples of different densities including copper, lead and zinc, and coal were prepared. The settling tests were performed on the samples, and the corresponding settling curves were plotted. Using the linear regression analysis, the Chein's equation was fitted to the experimental data in order to obtain the equivalent shape factors for the different minerals. Moreover, the relations between the equivalent shape factors and the settling parameters were investigated. The R-squared values for the fits proved the capability of the Chein’s equation to fit well on the experimental data (0.96
